As I strolled back to my hotel after an invigorating day of panels featuring experts in leadership, sales, and team building, I paused for a moment in the sun. The chill of the Swiss air swept across my face as I closed my eyes, taking a few deep breaths to process the insights I had just absorbed.

I needed this moment to reflect.

Tightening my scarf around my neck and adjusting my California-bought jacket, which was woefully unprepared for the Alpine chill, I thought back to the conversations I’d had with fellow attendees sitting nearby. We were all captivated by the stories shared by the leaders on stage, each demonstrating their remarkable ability to forge unified teams across various stages of their organizations.

Some were startups seeking investment, others were established companies on the lookout for the next unicorn to partner with. Then there were the judges—business experts with a wealth of experience, striving to assess each presenter's narrative on its own merits.

One thing stood out clearly: a profound sense of unity within the teams represented by all the companies present. That experience, six years ago in Lausanne, Switzerland, remains vivid in my mind today, igniting a pressing question:

What is the true formula for building a team culture that drives better organizational performance?

From that pivotal moment in Switzerland to my travels across the globe over the years, I have dedicated myself to teaching the art of storytelling to leaders from diverse industries. The lessons I gathered were invaluable, enriched with narratives that illuminated the power of connection through storytelling. Yet, a recurring theme began to emerge: despite employing effective techniques, many organizations grappled with team dynamics that stifled growth and performance.

In the STORI framework that I teach storytelling is one pillar in the formula to help leaders to become leaders of influence and creating a healthy and vibrant team culture. Each engagement I undertake is designed to include support and measurable metrics, helping my clients take crucial steps toward transforming their team culture—a journey that, I understand, will not happen overnight it does take time.

However, the time has come to condense the time and bridge the ever expanding gap of dissatisfaction with employees in their leaders and the direct connection with how company performance is dipping- across all industries, all sectors, within the west and internationally.

This realization was confirmed for me as many organizations are merging teams to create new divisions, reducing head count and spend in DEI initiviates, calling employees back into the office more days and even some companies requiring their managers to work six-days a week - not that this wasn't happening before it is not mandated which makes that Saturday morning of firing up your laptop with a cup of coffee not feel as light as it once did.

A change is needed in the very fabric that binds an organization to its vision and acts as a compass for navigating turbulent times. That fabric is team culture.

I understand clearer now than ever before my calling has evolved. It wasn't just about teaching leaders how to communicate effectively; it was about equipping them with the tools to build cohesive, high-performing teams that drive business performance. This has become the catalyst for expanding my services to address the critical need for a unified team culture.
